Need more room but not ready to move? Loft conversions in Dudley add a bedroom, office or playroom within the footprint you already own.
Across Sedgley, Gornal, Netherton, Kingswinford and Brierley Hill, we see everything from 1930s semis to post-war bungalows. Each one has a different roof, so we survey yours before recommending anything.
As loft conversion contractors in Dudley, we handle the drawings, planning, structure and finish. You have one team to call from start to finish.

Good loft conversions are planned from the roof down. These are the things we never skip.
1. Design & Construction Coordination
The people who draw your loft are the people who build it. That keeps the design realistic and the price accurate.
2. Structural Coordination
We work out new beams and floor joists with a structural engineer. The calculations feed straight into our site plan.
3. Defined Scope of Works
You get a written scope before any work begins. It lists each stage, material and finish in plain English.
4. Professional Project Management
A named project manager runs your Dudley build. They book the trades, manage deliveries and keep you informed.
5. Quality Control
We check work at key stages, such as the steels, insulation and plastering. Problems are dealt with there and then.
6. Building Regulations
Every conversion is designed to meet Building Regulations. We handle the submission and liaise with building control.
7. Wider Renovation Capability
Fancy a new kitchen or bathroom while we’re on site? We can manage the extra work within the same project.
We chat through what you need from the loft, your rough budget and any timing worries. Then we arrange a visit.
We check head height, roof timbers and space for stairs. It quickly shows whether your Dudley loft is suitable.
We sketch layouts that make the most of the roof. You can compare the options before settling on one.
We check whether permitted development covers the work. If not, we prepare a planning application to Dudley Council.
The engineer's calculations and Building Regulations drawings are produced. They set out the structure, fire safety and insulation.
We confirm the scope in writing with an itemised price. Any allowances are clearly marked, so nothing catches you out.
The roof structure is altered, then the loft is insulated, plastered and fitted out. Breaking through for the stairs is timed to limit disruption.
We supervise each trade and inspect the work as it goes. Final checks are done before we hand the room back to you.
1. Dormer Loft Conversions
A dormer adds upright walls and a new roof to part of the slope. A dormer loft conversion in Dudley is often the best way to gain full head height.
2. Rear Dormer Conversions
Rear dormers work well on semis and terraces. They give you a big, usable room while the front roof stays as it is.
3. Hip-to-Gable Loft Conversions
Got a hipped roof on a semi? Building the side up into a gable adds a surprising amount of floor area.
4. Rooflight / Velux-Style Loft Conversions
Rooflights fit within the existing slope. It’s a simpler option for lofts that already have decent height.
5. Mansard Loft Conversions
A mansard rebuilds the roof slope at a steep angle. It creates a lot of space but usually needs planning consent.
6. Bedroom Loft Conversions
A loft bedroom takes the pressure off a busy household. Children get their own rooms and guests get a proper bed.
7. Master Bedroom Suites
Create a master bedroom with room to breathe. The eaves become storage, so the floor stays clear.
8. Loft Conversions with En-Suites
We can include a shower, toilet and basin. Pipework is planned so it doesn’t eat into the rooms below.
9. Home Office Loft Conversions
Give your work-from-home days a proper base. A loft office is quieter and away from household noise.
10. Loft Conversion and Renovation Projects
Got a list of jobs around the house? We can combine your loft with a wider home renovation in Dudley.
11. Loft Structural Alterations
Converting a loft changes how the roof carries its load. We install the steels and joists your engineer specifies.
12. Staircase Installation
We find the best spot for the stairs and check the headroom rules. The aim is a natural route up, not a squeeze.
13. Roof Alterations and Strengthening
Some older roofs have tired timbers or sagging purlins. We put this right as part of the conversion.

I recently had an initial visit with Sunnie from JMA regarding my planned single-storey wrap-around extension. Although the visit had to be rearranged twice due to unforeseen circumstances, this was handled in a timely and professional manner. When Sunnie came out for the initial visit, he took the time to listen to my vision for the project and we discussed various options, including planning, design, materials, timescales and costs. He was professional, friendly and accommodating to my suggestions, while also being very solution-focused and offering practical ideas. He provided an overall estimated cost for the build and even offered me a discount as a Blue Light Card holder, which was a really welcomed gesture. Following the initial visit, I have decided to go ahead with Sunnie and JMA for my project. I feel confident in my decision and am really looking forward to seeing my plans come together over the coming months.Posted on Google![]()

Sunnie from JMA Group visited us and explained the entire extension process in great detail. He provided different options along with estimated costs on the same day. He appeared very professional throughout. He also mentioned that they build new houses and offer an NHBC warranty. This was our first meeting with them, and if we agree on the pricing, we look forward to working with themPosted on Google![]()

Amazing work by Sunnie and the JMA team. Definitely worth the money and has added value to my house
Many lofts don’t. Permitted development covers a lot of rear dormers and hip-to-gable conversions, within size limits. Front dormers, mansards and homes in conservation areas normally need consent from Dudley Council. We check your property and advise before any design work starts.
As a rough guide, look for about 2.2 metres from the top of the ceiling joists to the underside of the ridge. Less than that does not rule you out. A dormer or roof alteration can often add the height you need.
Yes. Many bungalows have roofs tall enough for one or two bedrooms. A dormer usually makes the best use of the space. We’ll assess the roof and where a staircase could fit.
Yes, if it becomes a habitable room. Approval covers the new floor, fire safety, insulation, ventilation and stairs. We prepare the plans and deal with building control for you.
It depends on the type and size. Rooflight conversions are usually quicker than dormers or hip-to-gable work. We’ll give you a realistic programme once the design and approvals are in place.
Your loft is already paid for. It just needs the right plan.
