Oldbury has plenty of semis and terraces with useful roof space overhead. Loft conversions in Oldbury make that space work as a bedroom, office or playroom.
We cover Langley, Warley, Rounds Green, Tividale and Causeway Green. Whether your home is a pre-war terrace or a 1960s semi, we start by checking what the roof will allow.
As loft conversion builders in Oldbury, we take care of the design, planning, structure and finishing.

A loft conversion is a structural job, not a quick makeover. Here’s how we keep it organised.
1. Design & Construction Coordination
We handle the design and the construction together. The plans are drawn with the build already in mind.
2. Structural Coordination
A structural engineer designs the steels and new floor. Our site team follows those details to the letter.
3. Defined Scope of Works
Your scope of works is written down and agreed first. You’ll know what’s in the price and what isn’t.
4. Professional Project Management
Your Oldbury build is run by one project manager. They keep the trades in order and the job on schedule.
5. Quality Control
We carry out checks as each stage finishes. Small issues are fixed early instead of turning into big ones.
6. Building Regulations
We design to Building Regulations and keep building control involved. That covers fire safety, insulation and stairs.
7. Wider Renovation Capability
If you’d like other work done at the same time, we can plan it into one programme with one team.
Tell us what you'd like the loft to become. We'll talk through budget, timing and the best next step.
We measure the loft, check the roof timbers and look at access. It tells us which designs your Oldbury home can take.
We create a layout around your needs. You'll see how the room, stairs and storage fit together.
We check permitted development limits. If planning is needed, we prepare and submit it to Sandwell Council.
We arrange structural calculations and Building Regulations drawings. Every technical detail is settled before work begins.
Your scope and quote are itemised. You can see what each stage costs and agree it before we start.
We put up scaffold, alter the roof and fit the new structure. Then the loft is insulated, plastered and finished.
We manage the trades and inspect each stage. Your room is handed over clean, complete and signed off.
1. Dormer Loft Conversions
A dormer is the most common way to gain head height. A dormer loft conversion in Oldbury turns a sloping loft into a full-height room.
2. Rear Dormer Conversions
Rear dormers sit on the garden side of the roof. They add plenty of space while the front of your home looks unchanged.
3. Hip-to-Gable Loft Conversions
Hipped-roof semis can gain a lot from a hip-to-gable. The new gable wall makes room for stairs and a bigger bedroom.
4. Rooflight / Velux-Style Loft Conversions
If the loft is already tall, rooflights could be enough. It’s a simpler, quicker way to create a bright room.
5. Mansard Loft Conversions
A mansard gives near-vertical walls and lots of space. It suits some terraces but usually needs planning permission.
6. Bedroom Loft Conversions
A new bedroom can make a real difference to family life. Everyone gets more space without a house move.
7. Master Bedroom Suites
A master suite in the loft gives you a private floor. Fitted wardrobes in the eaves keep things tidy.
8. Loft Conversions with En-Suites
We design en-suites that fit the roof shape. Plumbing and extraction are planned so the room stays fresh and dry.
9. Home Office Loft Conversions
A loft office is a dedicated place to work. Shut the door, focus and keep the rest of the house work-free.
10. Loft Conversion and Renovation Projects
Updating the rest of your home too? We can run the loft as part of a wider home renovation in Oldbury.
11. Loft Structural Alterations
Most conversions need new steels and joists. We install them to the engineer’s design and the approved plans.
12. Staircase Installation
We position the staircase to keep good headroom and lose minimal space. It’s one of the most important design decisions.
13. Roof Alterations and Strengthening
We check the roof for weak timbers or old damage. Any strengthening is done before the new room is built.

I recently had an initial visit with Sunnie from JMA regarding my planned single-storey wrap-around extension. Although the visit had to be rearranged twice due to unforeseen circumstances, this was handled in a timely and professional manner. When Sunnie came out for the initial visit, he took the time to listen to my vision for the project and we discussed various options, including planning, design, materials, timescales and costs. He was professional, friendly and accommodating to my suggestions, while also being very solution-focused and offering practical ideas. He provided an overall estimated cost for the build and even offered me a discount as a Blue Light Card holder, which was a really welcomed gesture. Following the initial visit, I have decided to go ahead with Sunnie and JMA for my project. I feel confident in my decision and am really looking forward to seeing my plans come together over the coming months.Posted on Google![]()

Sunnie from JMA Group visited us and explained the entire extension process in great detail. He provided different options along with estimated costs on the same day. He appeared very professional throughout. He also mentioned that they build new houses and offer an NHBC warranty. This was our first meeting with them, and if we agree on the pricing, we look forward to working with themPosted on Google![]()

Amazing work by Sunnie and the JMA team. Definitely worth the money and has added value to my house
Not always. Many loft conversions count as permitted development. Terraced homes can add up to 40 cubic metres of roof space and semis up to 50, subject to conditions. If you do need permission, the application goes to Sandwell Council. We’ll check this for you early on.
If you share a wall, usually yes. The Party Wall etc. Act 1996 requires notice before certain work on shared walls, such as inserting steels. We’ll explain the notices and timings involved.
In most cases, yes. A lot of the early work is done from the scaffold. The noisiest stage is opening up for the staircase, and we’ll warn you before it starts.
Most people add a bedroom, en-suite or home office. Some create a playroom or hobby room. Either way, it needs to meet Building Regulations as a habitable room.
Costs depend on the size, conversion type and finishes. We don’t quote from guesswork. After a free survey, you’ll receive an itemised quote based on your home.
You may not need to move to get the space you want.
